Care Home Curtains

Fire retardant curtains, also known as fire-resistant curtains or flame-resistant curtains, are curtains that are designed to slow down the spread of fire and resist ignition. These curtains are made from materials that have been treated with special fire-resistant chemicals or are inherently fire-resistant due to their composition. They are commonly used in places where fire safety is a concern, such as care homes, hotels, theatres, schools, hospitals, and industrial settings.

Key features and benefits of fire retardant curtains include:

Reduced Fire Spread: Fire retardant curtains help prevent the rapid spread of fire by slowing down its progression. This can provide occupants more time to evacuate and emergency responders more time to control the fire.
Ignition Resistance: Fire-resistant curtains are less likely to ignite when exposed to high heat or open flames, making them a safer option in case of a fire.
Smoke Reduction: These curtains can also help reduce the amount of smoke generated during a fire. Smoke inhalation is a significant hazard in fires, and reducing the amount of smoke can improve visibility and breathing conditions.

Protection of Property: Fire-resistant curtains can help protect property by containing or limiting the fire’s impact on surrounding areas. This can reduce damage to buildings and valuable assets.

Compliance: In some jurisdictions and industries, fire safety regulations require the use of fire-retardant materials in certain applications, such as public spaces, commercial buildings, and high-risk environments.

Customisation: Fire retardant curtains come in various styles, colours, and sizes, allowing them to be integrated seamlessly into different interior designs.

Maintenance: Like standard curtains, fire retardant curtains can be cleaned and maintained to ensure their effectiveness over time. However, it’s important to follow proper cleaning guidelines to avoid compromising their fire-resistant properties.

Understand the proper cleaning and maintenance procedures for the curtains to ensure they retain their fire-resistant properties over time.

Remember that fire retardant curtains are just one component of a comprehensive fire safety plan. They should be used in conjunction with other fire safety measures, such as smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and evacuation plans, to ensure the safety of occupants and property in case of a fire.

All our fabrics are inherently flame retardant and most can be washed at a high temperature for infection control.
